Private Pay
Individual therapy ($200 for 50-60 minute sessions)
Payment is due at the time of each session.
Insurance (Out-of-Network)
I am an out-of-network provider, which means I do not bill insurance companies directly or participate in any insurance panels. Payment is due in full at the time of each session.
Many insurance plans offer out-of-network benefits, which may allow you to be reimbursed for a portion of what you pay for therapy. Whether you have these benefits, and how much you'd be reimbursed, depends on your specific plan.
To make this process easier, I work with two services that help clients check their out-of-network benefits and submit claims for reimbursement:
Thrizer — Thrizer can check your out-of-network benefits and, once you've had a session, submit the insurance claim on your behalf so you don't have to deal with paperwork. You can check your eligibility below.
Mentaya — Mentaya can also verify your out-of-network benefits and handle claim submission for you, working to get you reimbursed directly from your insurance company. You can check your eligibility below.
Using either service is optional, and neither guarantees reimbursement — that depends entirely on your individual insurance plan. If you have questions about how this works or want help getting started, feel free to reach out.
**This clinic is not equipped to manage mental health emergencies. If you are experiencing a mental health crisis, please call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
Psychotherapy, often called "therapy" or "counseling," is a collaborative process between a trained mental health professional and an individual. It's a safe and confidential space to explore thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, understand challenges, and develop coping strategies to improve overall well-being. It's not about giving advice, but guiding you to your own insights and solutions.
-
Therapy can benefit anyone seeking to improve their mental health, navigate life transitions, cope with stress, manage symptoms of mental health conditions (like anxiety or depression), improve relationships, or gain greater self-awareness. It's for those who feel stuck, overwhelmed, or simply want to live a more fulfilling life.
-
A psychologist has a doctoral degree (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) in psychology. They specialize in psychotherapy (talk therapy) and psychological assessment. They do not prescribe medication.
A psychiatrist is a medical doctor (M.D.) who specializes in mental health. They can diagnose mental health conditions, provide psychotherapy, and prescribe and manage medication.
-
A doctoral-level psychologist has the most extensive clinical training available in mental health treatment, including diagnosis, evidence-based treatment planning, and specialized certifications like my perinatal mental health credential (PMH-C) — care built on clinical expertise, not just support.
-
The duration of therapy varies greatly depending on your individual goals, the nature of your concerns, and the therapeutic approach. Some clients find relief in a few sessions, while others benefit from longer-term support. We will discuss this collaboratively during your initial assessment and regularly review your progress. Each individual session typically lasts between 50-60 minutes. Shorter sessions may be available as needed for established clients depending on clinical necessity.
-
Confidentiality is a cornerstone of therapy. What you share in sessions is protected by law and ethical guidelines. However, there are a few legal exceptions where confidentiality must be broken to ensure safety. These include:
If there is a reasonable suspicion of child abuse or elder/dependent adult abuse.
If there is a serious threat of physical violence towards an identifiable victim.
If you are a danger to yourself and cannot keep yourself safe.
If a court order requires the release of records.
These limits to confidentiality will be discussed in detail during your initial intake session.
-
Benefits of therapy can include:
Improved coping skills for stress, anxiety, and depression.
Enhanced self-awareness and understanding.
Healthier relationship patterns and communication.
Processing past trauma and grief.
Increased resilience and emotional regulation.
Greater clarity in decision-making.
A stronger sense of purpose and well-being.

Summit Mental Wellness is a private-pay practice, which means I don't bill insurance directly. Many clients use the monthly superbill I provide to seek out-of-network reimbursement from their insurance plan — check your plan's out-of-network mental health benefits to see what's covered. I have also partnered with third-party platforms such as Mentaya or Thrizer to support you in processing these out-of-network claims.
